In Assembled by Philip I will be showing how I put all these street finds, antiques and pieces of art together to create what is becoming my own sense of style. It's an eclectic mix of new and old objects, expensive pieces juxtaposed with upscaled second hand finds. Contemporary and modern even abstract pieces completely at home with something historical and traditional.
Here I have put some of my favourite pieces together, an antique gilded chair, painting brought over from England and a crystal side table made by Toronto glass sculptor Pierre Bouchard.
Here I built a lamp using an antique bronze base, salvaged desk fan and Swarovski crystals. The church alter candlesticks and art deco garnitures are antique as well.
Here I have framed a photograph of one of my old ceramic pieces. In this case I used an old frame I found in an antique store and I re-gilded the piece myself with real gold-leaf.
Here I had an idea framing Gerald Gladstone's very modern abstract drawings in an antique gilded frame. I think it gives two completely contrasting pieces a whole new life.
Featured here are a painting in the background by British artist now living in Toronto, Canada Ray Cattell. In the foreground and centre is a ceramic vase by Loren Kaplan and to each side are glass sculptures called 'The Sisters' by Pierre Bouchard.
Ceramic vase by Loren Kaplan and 19th century gilded bronze urns.
Ceramic vase by Loren Kaplan, chess board and one of my favourites, a giant clam shell.
Paintings by Vilallonga and Dieter Rechenberg. Bronze sculpture by Gerald Gladstone.
Shown here is my early ceramics work and paintings. More recently shown are images of chandeliers and lamps I have made with recycled parts. I use antique finds, scrap metal, things I find in the garbage and crystals from old or broken chandeliers. I see these finds as pieces to one giant jigsaw puzzle that I need to put together.
Chandelier created with an antique aluminum surround, Swarovski crystals and one of my favourites, a guard from a desk fan.
Lamp created with an antique bronze base, Swarovski crystals and the wire guard from a desk fan.

The bases I found at an antique market and are made of Carrara marble, the shades are salvaged scrap metal.

Chandelier made with you guessed it, an old basket probably from a fruit market or convenience store.

Here I will be showing pieces that inspire me from day to day. I will show antique finds, beautiful objects I come across new and old, the visual eye candy that gets me out of bed every day.
If anybody has any other information on this item please share it. I also have a supposedly Nazi SS guard ring with the exact same casting but in a slightly smaller size in a silver or base metal and with a Swastika and eagles wings on the forehead. I will post an image of this other ring shortly. The two rings are too similar to be coincidence and one is certainly a copy of the other and I am wondering what the connection might be having not seen anything exactly like either of them before. One dating to the early 1900's and the other dating to the second world war.
